Thank you to Christie from 1000 Places and Memories and Allan from PhotoBlography3 for nominating us for the Travel Challenge. The challenge is to post a favourite travel picture for 10 days, without explanation and then nominate someone else to participate. We probably won’t make 10 days, and you may have already seen the pictures since they will already have been in a blog post, but here it goes.
For our final day we nominate The Hungry Travellers. If you don’t want to participate, that’s fine, but if you do please link to us so we can see your pictures!

That’s a stunning capture of Paro Taktsang, Maggie! 🙂 Thanks for sharing and have a good day. I hope you had lovely Christmas 🙂 Aiva xxx

It’s amazing to me how these temples get built in such challenging places. I think of all that it took for materials to be carried up the mountains, how precarious a place it is even to work on the building. And I think of the vision that happened first that morphed into the design and execution of that vision to turn it into reality.
Beautiful photo and place.

I know, the devotion of these people to build in such precarious places is very impressive.

I’ve been doing a bunch of research on Bhutan lately! How was the walk up to Tiger’s Nest? I would love to see it someday but I’m wary about the altitude.

We were not acclimitzed so just went slow. It’s not steep but is a constant climb. We actually continued to hike to the top of the hill above it so weren’t too bothered by the elevation. You’ll likely spend a day or two in Paro before so will acclimatize a little. When you go I’ll give you our guide’s contact info. He was excellent, I think they all are very good because it’s a university degree to be a guide. We loved Bhutan!

Yes we’re done! You should look at Bhutan. It’s expensive but it’s very special place.

It’s been on the Bucket List for years. The idea of a country that has a ‘Happiness Index’ rather than GDP has a huge appeal to me! Perhaps we will get there with The Beast once travel resumes.

I’m always amazed to see buildings constructed on the side of a cliff and wonder how they even get the supplies there. Looks beautiful. Great picture.

What a challenge this must have been to build (like you’ve said, centuries ago). We love all of your photo challenge pictures … a nice virtual tour around the world!
