Ladakh’s Monasteries, Palaces and Fortresses

Ladakh is in northern India, bordering on Tibet. It’s people, culture, architecture and Buddhism are very similar to Tibet. Ladakh is filled with gorgeous Tibetan-style gompas (monasteries), palaces and fortresses perched high up on cliffs and mountains throughout the region. These are pictures from our favourite sites. For the full story on each of these sites go to our Destinations page.
