We love independent travel. The ability to set your own itinerary, go at your own pace and seek out relatively unknown gems in a new city is our preferred style. That type of travel makes us a good fit for GPSmyCity and we are proud to announce our new partnership with them as content contributors.
What is GPSmyCity?
This easy-to-use app provides travellers access to a large library of travel blogs from around the world. You can then convert your favourite ones into personal walking tours. What’s even better is that these tours can be downloaded onto your phone or tablet, saving you precious data when you’re on the road.
It’s like having your own personalized tour guide, right in your phone, but with a tour that you’ve created.
How does GPSmyCity work?
GPSmyCity has cleverly linked the tourist sites mentioned in the travel articles with one-touch links that take you to an interactive map. Using GPS signals, you can walk these same routes that you’ve created at your own pace. You can add sites one by one, or visit all of those recommended in the blog post. It’s your decision. There’s even a voice command option to make sure you don’t get lost.
Additionally, in many cities there are pre-planned maps to choose from, making it even easier to travel independently. Or if you prefer, you can create your own map from a list of top sites in the city.
Free Offer
As part of this new venture, we are offering three of our articles for free on the GPSmyCity app. For the next two weeks, until July 21, 2025, you can download these articles and their integrated GPS coordinates by using the links below. Remember, it’s not just the articles, because you can always read those for free on Monkey’s Tale, it is the ability to change those articles into a usable map that makes this app worthwhile.
Here are the Monkey’s Tale articles we are making free to download for the next two weeks. Once they’re downloaded, you can access them whenever you want.
One is from Morocco:
The Grand Architectural Monuments in Meknes – If you’re visiting Morocco, you’ll want to visit the historic city of Meknes to see its mansions and mausoleums that are ornamented beyond comparison. This post will take you to those sites and more in Meknes, Morocco.

Another is from Bolivia:
Exploring The Heights of La Paz – As one of the highest cities in the world, the city of La Paz has one of the most unusual locations. When you look from the rim of the canyon down to the city below, the view is dumfounding. This post will take you through the top sites in the fascinating city of La Paz.

The third is from Brazil:
Belem – The City of Mango Trees – Its location on the Pará River, not far from both the Atlantic Ocean and the Amazon River, meant that Belém was a very important port city during Brazil’s 19th century rubber boom. As a result, the city became filled with opulent buildings, a sign of this wealth. Come with us as we take you to the sites in Belém, Brazil.

How to get GPSmyCity
- You can download the free GPSmyCity app from their website, in the Google Play Store or from the Apple App.
- Once you have the app, you can download articles that will help you decide which sites to see and use them to create your own self-guided walking tours. The links above will take you to our articles once you’ve downloaded the app. There are links to our other posts below, that will do the same.
- The maps you create are easy to follow. A blue arrow indicates where you are and follows you as you move along the route to each site. As you walk, you may notice other sites suggested on the map that you didn’t even know about before. If you want to change the route, add or delete sites, you can easily modify the map as you go.
- Your route can be set as a circular route that returns you to your starting point, often your hotel, or can begin and end in different places.
- Once your map is created, you’re ready to explore!
- If you like the app, which we think you will, you can subscribe to receive a larger selection of travel posts. You can download the integrated articles one by one or purchase an annual subscription and have unlimited access to the library of travel blog posts.
